Broadcast the schedule change, not the thermometer. Every high-performing heat post translated the warning into one concrete adjustment — carts out by 5 a.m., these locations are confirmed cooling centers, this road is closed until 9 p.m. Say what changed, when it changes back, and where to check.

HOW IL GOVERNMENTS ARE SAYING IT

Put the hauler's schedule change in your own feed — the trash calendar is what residents actually need from a heat warning. “Due to the extreme heat over the next four days, we will be starting pick up of trash and recycle an hour earlier than normal. We will begin pick up at 5 am… have carts out…”
