The two posts that anchor this edition are a city admitting a part is sixty days out and another giving turn-by-turn detours in the voice of someone who also has to drive it. Both approaches earn the same thing: attention that persists past the first day of the closure.

The move: Published a genuinely bad number rather than saying repairs are underway, and paired it with the interim instruction. The comment thread turned into problem-solving instead of complaint.

The move: Gave the schedule status unprompted and explained why staying out matters in physical terms — the concrete has to cure — rather than as a rule.

THE PATTERN TO BORROW
Publish the bad number. Oskaloosa could have said the signal is being repaired. It said the part is sixty days out and told drivers to treat the intersection as a four-way stop until then. That post drew 118 comments — the most of any Iowa post in this round — and they are largely constructive, because residents given a real constraint tend to start suggesting ways around it rather than speculating about why nothing is happening.
