In a state where summer afternoons are genuinely dangerous, the public library is one of the few places a resident can go for free, and Arizona governments write about it accordingly. This round the library shows up as a webcam host, a food distribution point and a place to buy a paperback for fifty cents. The posts are worth reading as a set.

THE PATTERN TO BORROW
Write the caveat you could have skipped. Holbrook's produce post ends with a note that the tomatoes in the photograph are illustrative and the town does not know what will arrive until it does. Nobody would have complained if that line were missing. It is there because the page is written by someone who would rather be trusted next week than look organised today, and it is the most quietly instructive sentence in this edition.
